The Governance Performance Index seeks to accurately measure Governance Performance across the 36 states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Our work cuts through the 36 states and the FCT mostly through our partners and network of field researchers.

While our immediate focus is to continue to deepen the quality of our reach across the 36 states and the FCT, we are also planning to extrend our reach to Local Government Areas (LGAs) - the most basic unit of government, in the long term. Good governance at the grass root through the LGAs is crucial for socioeconomic progress and development. A minified and localised framework adapted from the main GPI framework will be used to assess Governance Performance with LGAs.
